DETROIT -

A 22-year-old man from Detroit was killed in crash early Sunday morning on westbound I-96 near Joy Road.

Police say two 22-year-old men were driving down I-96 when the driver lost control and went up an embankment, through trees, and then rolled down the embankment.

The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Police say alcohol and the lack of seat belts appear to be factors in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to the local hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
