A man who set out to cross the U.S. in a mule-pulled wagon is about to wrap up his journey and prove that stubbornness can conquer all.

Gene Glasscock, 77, departed from San Diego on Sept. 7, 2010, and has spent more than a year traveling in a wagon pulled by his two mules, Kitty and Kate, The Florida Times-Union reported.

According to the publication, Glasscock is expected to cross the Intracoastal Waterway bridge onto Jekyll Island, Ga., on Saturday, and then sell the wagon and the mules.
