ROMULUS, Mich. -

Romlus mayor home 1

Michigan State Police have searched the home of Romulus Mayor Alan Lambert's home on Mario Ann Court.

Investigators showed up at the house at about 5 p.m. Monday and left just before 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Boxes of evidence were removed, but police haven't said what they were looking for.

Police said Lambert was interviewed and released.

Lambert lives at the home with his wife and children. He's been mayor since 2001.

His career in public service began in 1981, when he was the youngest person elected to the Romulus City Council.

In 2011, Michigan State Police raided the Romulus police headquarters. The investigation into public corruption resulted in charges against the former police chief, his wife and five Romulus police detectives. Lambert was mayor at the time.
