The Michigan Department of Community Health is getting a 3-year, $1.6 million grant to support disease surveillance to monitor acute and viral hepatitis.

The funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday also aims to improve viral hepatitis prevention education.

The money will allow Department of Community Health to improve surveillance and increase the awareness of viral hepatitis among public and private health care providers.
