A Michigan Department of Corrections parole officer is in some trouble for allegedly making a threat at a Royal Oak movie theater.
Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue told Local 4 the officer was buying a ticket to see “The Dark Knight Rises” Saturday afternoon at the Emagine theater when he said, “If I don’t get good seats, I’m going to shank somebody.” The theater contacted police.
MDOC spokesman Russ Marlan said the officer is suspended with pay while an investigation into his conduct is under way. Marlan said they are checking to see if the officer was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
O'Donohue said the police department did take a report but is not pursuing charges right now. He said the parole officer was very remorseful.
The incident hit a sensitive nerve in light of the July 20 mass shooting at a Colorado movie theater, where 71 people were shot and 12 died during a showing of "The Dark Knight Rises."
