A 32-year-old Michigan teacher who authorities say had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy is facing charges.
Janet Brown of Evart was arraigned Tuesday on three felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, reported WPBN and the Cadillac News.
Brown's lawyer James Talaske says she has lifelong ties to the area.
A judge set bond at $50,000 and she was released. A preliminary hearing is Dec. 6.
Officials say Brown worked for the Mecosta-Osceola Intermediate School District and taught at a school southeast of Reed City.
She was placed on leave earlier this month an arrested Monday.
Police say the boy involved is a student and the relationship was discovered through mobile phone messages.
The school is located about 60 miles north of Grand Rapids.
