Michigan woman keeps mummified boyfriend for 2 years

Police find Charles William Zigler sitting in living room chair in Jackson

JACKSON, Mich. – A Michigan woman who kept her dead boyfriend inside her home for nearly two years may now face charges.

Mlive.com reported Tuesday that police found Charles William Zigler dead and covered up in a living room chair inside his Jackson home on July 6.

Zigler's niece was concerned that she had not seen him for some time so she contacted police to investigate.

Police went to the home that Zigler shared with his 71 year-old girlfriend.

The girlfriend let police inside the home, where Zigler's body was discovered in the living room.

Lt. Chris Simpson said the body was found mummified, but police have not release further details.

Zigler, then 67, died of natural causes sometime around Christmas of 2010, according to the medical examiner's report.

The girlfriend, whose name was not released, admitted to police that she knew Zigler was dead and covered up his body.

Simpson said police are investigating whether Zigler's death was concealed for reasons of financial fraud.

The woman has not been arrested.
