Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members representing several Southeast Michigan communities will converge on the city to practice their skills in the area of fire suppression, mass casualty, outdoor search & rescue, and mass sheltering.

The exercise will include approximately 100 CERT members and 25 volunteer "victims."

"This exercise will be a great opportunity for the members of our regional teams to not only hone their emergency response skills under "real life" situations, but also gives them a chance to get the teams together to help build the relationships across community borders," said Kathleen Rich, Canton Township Emergency Management Coordinator. "These teams train and exercise within their own communities on a regular basis, but we don't get many opportunities to conduct "cross-community" training."

Representatives from the Salvation Army and Southeast Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross will also be on hand to support the effort.

The exercise will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
