DETROIT -

Forecasters throughout northern Michigan are predicting as much as 18 inches of snow falling by the end of the weekend.

High winds in the Grand Rapids area caused trees and utility poles to fall. In Cadillac, right up through Traverse City, there is already a few inches of snow falling.

Here in the Detroit area we're looking at more rain but we could see some sunshine on Friday and Sunday.

It's April in northern Michigan, but it looks more like February

Ice and sleet continue to hammer down on parts of northern Michigan. A viewer in Mancelona Township in Antrim County shares a photo of her vehicle, completely covered in ice. The storm has created havoc for travelers. Most school districts in the region have delayed the start of their spring sports events because of snow.
