Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon will announce Monday evening whether he's considering a run for Detroit mayor in 2013.

The 57-year-old ex-Detroit police chief released a statement saying he would hold a press conference at 6 p.m. at the Mathis Community Center on Greenfield.

Last week, Napoleon tweeted that he would create an exploratory committee.

Other potential candidates for the job:

Detroit Medical Center Mike Duggan has created an exploratory committee but hasn't said if he'll run.

Detroit Lions general manager Tom Lewand has supported Duggan's run saying he could get the job done as mayor, based on the work Duggan did when he served as deputy Wayne County Executive in helping get both Ford Field and Comerica Park built.

Dave Bing hasn't said if he'll seek another four-year term of the financially troubled city as of yet.

State Representative John Olumba recently started a petition to recall Bing from office.

In order to move forward with the process Olumba must collect 43,000 signatures within 90 days from the start date of the petition.
