New arrests made in kidnapping, murders of Hamtramck women

Abreeya Brown, Ashley Conaway went missing in February, found dead in late March

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – Police sources have confirmed to Local 4 that two men have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Abreeya Brown and Ashley Conaway.

The bodies of the best friends were discovered in a remote area near Six Mile and Telegraph roads on Detroit's west side on March 25. They had been missing since Feb. 28 when police say they were abducted in front of their home. Investigators say the women had been bound and shot to death.

A man who lives near the shallow grave where the bodies were found told Local 4 he saw four cars drive in fast, then he heard gunshots and saw four cars drive out fast, back about the time the women disappeared.

Brandon Cain and Brian Lee are charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting at the women on Feb. 8.

Conaway and Cain were previously in a relationship.

But no one has been charged in the kidnapping and murder.

Police put out a picture of a man with the two women right before they were killed.  But sources say, he is not one of the two now in custody.

Lois Brown, Abreeya's mother, told Local 4 she wants closure.

"Give me closure as a mother, put yourself in my position," she said.

Sympathy cards fill her table but she still has a big empty feeling.

"They come from hell, these are like demons or something," Lois Brown

Police sources say the arrests are part of a long investigation and may be one step closer to someone being charged.
