PONTIAC, Mich. -

Oakland County executive L. Brooks Patterson said Wednesday in a news release that the county will propose amendments to its sheriff's contract with Pontiac to protect county taxpayers should that city file for Chapter 9 bankruptcy.

The amendments will be proposed Wednesday night during a Board of Commissioners meeting following the executive's budget message.

?I want to ensure that Oakland County taxpayers are not on the hook if Pontiac goes bankrupt,? Patterson said. ?My proposed amendments will ensure Oakland County is always paid first and has an ?out? if Pontiac defaults or goes into bankruptcy.?

The meeting will be held in the Board of Commissioners Auditorium.
