Police agencies in Oakland County are investigating several home invasions in the past weeks.
The most recent break in happened in the morning of Jan. 9th on Helmandale Drive in Franklin.
Entry to the homes is gained by breaking a glass window in the back of the house or by forcing open a door.
Once inside thieves are taking electronics, jewelry, and weapons.
After talking to neighbors, police say it appears that the burglars first ring door bells and knock on doors to see if anyone is home.
If a homeowner answers the door, the suspects either claim to be looking for someone else or pretend to offer a home improvement service.
The suspects are almost always described as young males in their late teens to 20s.
Some neighbors report would-be robbers are dressed in casual or business attire.
Police ask that you report any solicitors, suspicious persons or suspicious vehicles to 248- 626-5444.
- Always lock all doors and windows.
- Do not leave valuables such as laptop computers, jewelry, I-phones, and purses within view from outside.
- Keep your jewelry, money, and important documents stored in a safe in a hidden location.
Be extra vigilant of your neighbor's home for any signs of strange vehicles in driveways.
