Ohio tourism officials were embarrassed after a social media mistake linked the town of Sandusky, OH with the Jerry Sandusky trial.

Tourism staff used Twitter to promote a Father's Day getaway in the Lake Erie town by using the hashtag "Sandusky."

However, when readers clicked on the hashtag for more information they got explicit details of the Jerry Sandusky child sexual assault trial.

Tourism officials said it was an innocent mistake.

"We were promoting a particular package that was at our Sandusky resort and we really wanted to differentiate that this package isn't available in Wisconsin," said Jill Bauer of Lake Erie Shore and Island tourism group.

"An unfortunate analogy and something we are well aware of at this point. Timing was a disappointment and that was unintentional by all," added executive director Joan Van Offeren.

The tourism group said they won't use the Sandusky hashtag again until after the trial ends.
