Ferndale police found a man posing as a Detroit Public Schools Public Safety officer after pulling him over for speeding Wednesday on 8 Mile Road near Livernois Avenue.

Police say 38-year-old Maurice Lawson, of Southfield, was wearing a badge around his neck as if he were a plain-clothes officer. He told the Ferndale police officer that he himself was a police officer for Detroit Public Schools. However, Lawson didn't have any identification on him.
