West Michigan authorities say a helicopter with two men aboard crashed in a remote federal wetlands, killing the pilot and injuring his passenger.
The Oceana County sheriff's department says the crash happened Saturday in Leavitt Township, near Walkerville and about 55 miles north-northwest of Grand Rapids.
The department says 49-year-old Thomas Slocum was flying his helicopter over a federally owned wetlands area called Tanner's Swamp when it crashed.
Twenty-eight-year-old Matt Williams of Hart was seriously hurt in the crash. He was taken to a hospital in Grand Rapids.
