Police say officers went to the 18000 block of Kentfield Street to raid a drug house as part of an ongoing investigation. When officers arrived they found the plants guarded by the pit bulls. Police called DDR to take the dogs.

"When we first approached, they were obviously protecting the plants -- what they were trained to do," said Dante Dasaro, of DDR.

About 40 marijuana plants and one firearm were confiscated by police. No arrests have been made.

The dogs will be put up for adoption. Dasaro said they have five female and four male dogs.
