A hit-and-run crash turned into a drug bust Saturday after an off-duty Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Deputy followed the driver home Pittsfield Township.
Police said the 29-year-old driver was involved in a fender-bender near Michigan Avenue and Platt Road. After the crash, an off-duty deputy spotted the vehicle and followed it to the Saline Meadows manufactured home community.
Pittsfield Township police were called to the home and learned the man did not have a driver’s license. After questioning him further, they began searching his home. Officers found $2,000 in cash and five pounds of marijuana.
Investigators said they believe the man was intending to sell the drugs.
