Police: Body found in Washington Township parking lot victim of hit-and-run
Sandra Lee Loepp, 37, found dead Sunday morning near Van Dyke, 28 Mile
The Macomb County Sheriff says the body of a woman who was found Sunday morning in Washington Township died after being struck and dragged by a vehicle.
The victim was identified as Sandra Lee Loepp, 37, from Washington Township.
Police say she left Santino’s Bar just after 1 a.m. on Sunday and was walking northbound on Old Van Dyke.
Loepp was approximately a half mile north of the bar when she was struck and dragged by a vehicle.
Investigator say the woman's body may have been dislodged from the vehicle by the person who hit her.
The body was found by a passerby in the parking lot of the Washington mobile home park near Van Dyke and 28 Mile Road.
"A vehicle traveling on Van Dyke noticed the body laying in the parking lot there and went and checked it out and gave us a call," said Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.
Investigators believe that the vehicle who hit and left Loepp will have damage to the front end as well as the passenger side.
Evidence was collected at the scene of the crash and is being analyzed currently.
An autopsy was completed by the Macomb County Medical Examiner, Doctor Daniel Spitz.
Spitz said the injuries to Loepp's body were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Loepp was wearing blue jeans, a tan shirt, brown leather jacket and a white scarf when she left the bar.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Macomb County Sheriffs Department at 586-469-5151.
