Police arrest Pontiac man after home invasion call leads to cocaine bust
Sheriff: 1/2 kilo of cocaine off streets , Mark Stanley Hollis arrested
Police say a 34-year-old Pontiac man is in custody for drug possession after the department received a call about a home invasion in progress.
The Sheriff’s Office was called to a home in Pontiac after receiving information that a man driving a gold van was attempting to break into a home on Crawford Street.
Police arrived to the home and were able to block in the van.
The driver, Mark Stanley Hollis was arrested.
Police say Hollis smelled of marijuana and admitted he had pot inside the van.
A K-9 unit was called to search the vehicle and the dog "hit" on the door, passenger door, rear door and gas tank of the van.
Police found 421.0 grams of cocaine, approximately half a kilo, with a street value of over $200,000 in the search.
Two cell phones and packaging material were also discovered in the van.
"It was a combination of heads-up police work and having the right tools. In this case, a K-9, was used to successfully investigate and prosecute a number of crimes," said Sheriff Michael Bouchard.
Hollis was arraigned on charges of: delivery and manufacturing cocaine over 50 grams, a 20 year felony, and possession of marijuana, a one year misdemeanor.
He is scheduled to be back in court on October 16th.
