Michigan State Police said a man who had been reported early Tuesday morning to have a gun and be suicidal was found safe in Detroit.

Police said officers responded just after 4 a.m. to the call of a possible barricaded suicidal gunman in the 2300 block of Wyoming in Royal Oak Township.

Police said the man had contacted a suicide hotline and said he hadn't taken his medication and was at the home with his wife and child. But the man wasn't inside the home and officers were able to work with family members to track him down at a home on Washburn in Detroit.

After negotiations with the man, police said they were able to coax him out of the home and he was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital.

Police said they didn't find a weapon.
