The man accused of causing the car crash which seriously injured Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson will appear in court on Tuesday for his pretrial hearing.
Police say 31-year-old Anthony Prainito, of Royal Oak, cut off a car in which Patterson was a passenger in early August at Walton and Opdyke roads in Auburn Hills. Patterson, his driver Jame Cram and Prainito's passengers all were injured in the two-car collision.
Prainito's hearing is for three misdemeanor charges.
Patterson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, for which he was cited. He released a statement about the fine this past week.
"Not wearing a seatbelt was a mistake," Patterson said. "I accept my responsibility and paid the $65 fine this afternoon."
