A raw sewage spill in Kalamazoo has prompted officials to urge people to avoid contact with surface water in the area.
MLive.com reports an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 gallons of sewage spilled from a manhole and was released to Axtell Creek.
Kalamazoo officials were notified of the problem Thursday afternoon and fixed it in about two hours. Creek water was tested.
State and county officials also were notified about the problem.
