Rochester bus driver arrested on duty for retail fraud

Woman being lodged in Oakland County Jail after being arrested at Village Mall

ROCHESTER, Mich. – A Rochester Hills woman was arrested for retail fraud while on duty as a school bus driver.

Roseanne Maria Stacho, 53, was arrested Friday in the 400 block of North Adams near the Village Mall.

Police were called when someone in a store confronted Stacho and it turned out she was the driver of a Rochester Public Schools bus that was parked out in the lot.

The bus was later picked up and the woman was sent to the Oakland County Jail. A warrant has been submitted.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says Parisian loss prevention officers recognized Stacho and found her with a stolen handbag full of both men's and women's clothing valued collectively at about $500. Stacho was coming out of a changing room.

The Sheriff's Office says she intended to take the bag on the bus and then bring Stoney Creek High School students home.

Instead, she ended up in the county jail. She was arraigned and released on a $10,000 personal bond. Her employer of three years, Durham School Services, had to pick up the bus.

Stacho was at her Rochester Hills home on Monday. However, she refused to answer the door when Local 4 knocked.
