Snyder: Short list of candidates for Detroit manager's job; review team report expected soon

Gov. Rick Snyder says a review team probing Detroit's finances could have its report to him sometime this week or within a couple of weeks.

Snyder says that when that report comes in it likely won't "take a significant amount of time" before he makes a decision on whether the city needs an emergency manager.

The team began its review in December and is tasked with determining whether Detroit is in a financial emergency. The report officially is due Feb. 19.

The Republican governor spoke Monday at a Detroit Regional Chamber event. He also says he has a short list of candidates for the manager's job if one is needed.

Detroit has a budget deficit of more than $300 million and has struggled with sustaining cash flow in recent months.
