Southfield police want help identifying woman in alleged check fraud ring

Police say thieves steal checking account info, create and cash bad checks

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Southfield police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who is suspected of being involved in a check fraud ring.

The ring has been operating in the metro-Detroit area for about one year and has been targeting elderly victims, police said.

The ring obtains personal information from checking accounts then uses it to create and cash fraudulent checks.

Anyone with information on the woman in the pictures is asked to call the Southfield police Department at 248-796-5540 or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAKUP.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward.
