Southeastern Michigan has an answer to the five-mile trek across the Mackinac Bridge Walk on Labor Day: Trek the Trestle.
The interior, downstate alternative walk takes place Sept. 3 on the Wadhams to Avoca Trail, in St. Clair County west-northwest of Port Huron. The name refers to the 640-foot Mill Creek trestle along the five-mile route.
The community walk started in 2007 and draws hundreds.
