Teen gets prison time for killing church security guard in Detroit

Anthony Williams, 15, charged as adult for May murder of Joseph Lewis outside Victory Way Assembly Church of God in Christ

DETROIT – A 15-year-old Detroit teen has been sentenced to to 14 to 30 years in prison for his role in the murder of an 84-year-old security guard in a church parking lot.

Fifteen-year-old Anthony Williams and 18-year-old Alandre Boone were charged as adults with second-degree murder for the May 9th death of Joseph Lewis.

Lewis was sitting in a car outside Victory Way Assembly Church of God in Christ when he was attacked by the teens. He was shot during the struggle. Police have said robbery may have been the motive.

Williams was sentenced Wednesday. Boone will be sentenced on Oct. 2.
