DETROIT -

Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon says a crackdown on drag racing on Detroit streets has cost several people their vehicles, with more forfeitures to come.

Napoleon says illegal street racing in Detroit has led to several crashes and shootings and at least two homicides in the past year.

He says citizen complaints led his department to crack down on drag racing, with the forfeiture of several vehicles last week and more expected this week.

Napoleon says Wayne County Circuit Judge Virgil Smith is holding a hearing Thursday in which authorities seek ownership of six vehicles involved in drag racing.
