GRANDVILLE, Mich. -

No injuries have been reported after an Amtrak train smashed into a disabled car in West Michigan.

WOOD-TV reports that 34 passengers were on the train when it hit the car in Grandville, southwest of Grand Rapids.

The car's driver told the television station one of his tires had fallen off about 10 p.m. Tuesday, forcing him to stop on the tracks.

Brent Nicholai said he could not move the car by himself and was waiting for a tow truck to arrive when the train began to approach.

Passengers stayed on the train, which continued on to a nearby station just before 11 p.m.

WWMT-TV reports that the train was headed to Chicago from Grand Rapids.
