Possible storms

Thursdays heat and humidity may lead to thunderstorms erupting after 4pm in the Motor City Area.  If any storms form, the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has put Detroit and a portion of Southeast Michigan in the "slight risk" category for severe weather.  Storms with hail, lightning, Families can track storms and remain alert with 4 Live Radar on JustWeather.com, which is configured for smartphones, iPads and other mobile devices.  Local 4 is the place to be to stay informed with any changes in the weather, too.

Air quality alerts

Air pollution is a third concern Thursday, as toxic ozone levels at the ground are expected to rise.  Residents with pre-existing heart or respiratory concerns are urged to remain indoors, and everyone is encouraged to do their part to limit levels of air pollution.  This can be done by carpooling, using public transportation, combining errands and not mowing the lawn or using any gas-powered equipment.
