Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano on Thursday announced Alfred R. Glancy III as the new chair to the Wayne County Airport Authority Board.

Glancy is taking over the position for Renee Axt, who resigned Monday. He comes from a business background, having retired as chairman and CEO of MichCon.

Ficano said he chose Glancy because of that business background.

"We look forward to working closely and cooperatively with new Board Member Alfred Glancy, III," said Airport Authority Interim CEO Tom Naughton. "His strong history of civic involvement and his background as an energy executive adds valuable business experience to the Board."

Axt's resignation comes one week after the board voted to fire their CEO, Turkia Mullin. .Mullin and Ficano have been under fire since news broke in September that Mullin was given a $200,000 severance when she left her position as economic director with the county to take charge of the airport. Mullin later agreed to repay it and last week gave the county a check for the after-tax amount of $135,900.
