Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano says he won't resign

Ficano says he won't resign from executive position because he's done nothing wrong

DETROIT – Despite a push from a Wayne County Commissioner to get Executive Robert Ficano to resign from his position, the executive is repeating he won't go.

Ficano spoke at the Michigan Chronicle's pancakes and politics forum on Friday.

"I am not going to resign. I have not done anything that is wrong. What I have done is held people accountable and they have separated from there," Ficano said.

Commission Vice Chair Pro-Tem Laura Cox is asking for Ficano to step down for what she calls "the good of the country." The issue will go in front of the Commission. Five other members of the Commission backed Cox on Thursday.

The next committee of the whole meeting is scheduled for June 7.
