Wayne County Jail put on lockdown after gun found

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman says investigation under way to determine how weapon got inside

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – The Wayne County Jail was put on lockdown Friday after a gun was found inside the facility.

In a statement, Wayne County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Paula Bridges said the gun was found in an area of "Division I."

"It is a matter the Sheriff takes extremely seriously. An investigation is under way to determine how it got there," she said.
