West Nile virus warning
Two counties have identified the virus
Hot and dry weather conditions may to be to blame for the West Nile virus, which has been identified in two counties.
A mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile virus in Saginaw County. And a wild turkey showed neurological signs and tested positive for the virus in Washtenaw County.
The findings confirm the virus is in mosquitoes and birds in the state and presents a clear risk to human health.
As a precaution, use insect repellent and remove mosquito breeding water from around your home.
For up to date surveillance information and to report sick or dead birds go to the Michigan West Nile virus website.
