White House taps Oakland County official as Champions of Change award recipient

An Oakland County official is to be honored at the White House.
Deputy County Executive Phil Bertolini and 12 others are to be recognized Tuesday as Champions of Change.
The White House says the 13 award recipients "have committed themselves to creating a more open and innovative government through entrepreneurship."
In a statement, the White House says Bertolini has "created models that can be implemented by other governments interested in improving operations while containing costs."
Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson says "it's a great honor to have" the county's "initiatives recognized by the White House."
