DETROIT -

This late winter chill will stick around as we head back to work and back to school Monday. Bus stop temperatures will be in the middle to upper teens with wind chills in the single digits early in the day. But the sun will help us warm up into the low and middle 30s by the afternoon.

We are tracking a pretty decent snow storm taking aim on Southeast Michigan Tuesday afternoon. Right now there are no watches or advisories but we will probably see them posted ahead of this storm.

Snow showers will start moving in around noon on Tuesday and it will be snowing at a pretty good clip most of the afternoon and into the evening.

The latest information we’ve gathered calls for 3-5” of new snow in Detroit which will make for a real messy evening commute on Tuesday. The heaviest snow (3-5”) will be along 8 mile and southward and our northern suburbs may only get an inch or two.

Light snow may linger into early Wednesday before we start to clear out and warm up.

Wednesday afternoon is the start of a warming trend with highs in the mid to upper 30s and 40s are likely by Thursday and Friday.

A cold front Saturday may bring a wintry mix late, so expect a mild start to the weekend in the low to mid 40s and then cooling off for Sunday.
