Some of Kwame Kilpatrick's former insiders from his time as Detroit's mayor will soon take the stand revealing inside information about the former mayor and others now facing charges.
Expect to hear from former members of the mayors executive protection unit and also businessmen who had a front row seat to some of the alleged corruption.
We'll also hear from a number of people who already cut deals. At some point we'll hear from former Kilpatrick aide Derrick Miller, who was charged in the city hall corruption case; Kandia Milton and Dedan Millton, former insiders who can provide more info about the money trail; Emma Bell, a former Kilpatrick fundraiser who pleaded guilty to tax evasion; former Synagro executive James Rosendall and Cobo contractor Karl Kado.
The prosecutors Friday revealed text messages exchanged between Kilpatrick and Bobby Ferguson giving a glimpse into their alleged schemes to pocket cash. We also saw a quick glimpse of Benard Kilpatrick caught on tape but did not seem too concerned after.
The prosecutors will likely reveal more about the thousands Kilpatrick allegedly pocketed. That includes $90,000 in cash from Ferguson, the $561,000 missing from the Kilpatrick civic fund, the $60,000 Kilpatrick spent on custom suits and the $280,000 on credit cards not to mention the money spent on shopping and eating out.
This all gets underway Monday morning at 9am. The defenders will be on the courtroom.
