A 25-year-old woman has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of leading police on two different chases through four Macomb County communities last year.

Eastpointe police said Kelly Messenger was a prostitute who stole her customer?s car after a hotel meeting on Match 15, 2010.

Eastpointe police Lt. David Gerlach said an officer arriving to the scene said he spotted a white Toyota Camry speeding down Gratiot Avenue with a man holding onto the roof.

The man fell off of the roof when the vehicle made a turn. Eastpointe police said they got the man help and continued to pursue the car, but the chase was called off when the vehicle entered the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 going the wrong way.

Five hours later, St. Clair Shores police said they spotted the same white Camry that was involved in the earlier chase cruising Eight Mile Road. A chase again ensued and police followed the vehicle down Jefferson Avenue, through the Shores and parts of the Grosse Pointes.

Stop sticks were laid down twice, and finally blew a tire out at Jefferson Avenue and Cadieux at about 1:30 a.m., police said.

The car continued with the deflated tire, but then veered at Jefferson Avenue and Kitchner Road and crashed into some shrubbery along the Fox Creek Post Office.

At her arraignment on several felony charges, including attempted murder, Messenger said she feared for her life.

"He really turned into a werewolf or something. I'm trying to tell you that he wasn't a human and he was trying to hurt me," Messenger said.

She was sentenced to 36 months to 15 years in prison and ordered to pay various court and legal fees.
