Workers at Riverview Land Preserve discover body mixed in trash
Workers at a Wayne County landfill discovered a dead body mixed amongst a layer of trash on Tuesday.
The Riverview Police Department confirms the gruesome discovery happened around 12:30 p.m at the Riverview Land Preserve.
The landfill is located on Grange Road and is owned by the City of Riverview, which is about 15 miles south of Detroit.
Police say trash comes to the landfill from several locations, including from Canada. The body was discovered in a section used for disposal of larger home items.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine if the body is that of a man or a woman and cause of death.
