Ypsilanti police say home break-ins spike

Police handled 27 break-ins in July, which is 10 more than same month last year

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Ypsilanti police are dealing with a surprising rise in home break-ins this summer.

Police handled 27 break-ins in July, which is 10 more than the same month last year, and 25 break-ins in June.

Police said thieves are forcing doors open, pushing up unlocked windows or pushing window air conditioning units in to get inside.

Pittsfield Township, Canton and Ann Arbor have also seen a rise in break-ins.
