HOWARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Authorities say an after-school crash has killed two young sisters in southwestern Michigan and critically injured a third. reports 6-year-old Sophia True and 9-year-old Juliana Brown died in the Tuesday afternoon crash in Cass County's Howard Township, about 80 miles southwest of Grand Rapids.

Authorities say 4-year-old Penelope True was injured.

The crash happened less than a mile from the schools they had just left.

Richard Weigel, superintendent of Niles Community Schools, says the older girls were students at Niles elementary schools, and Penelope was to start preschool this week.

Officials say a car believed driven by the children's 19-year-old babysitter failed to heed a stop sign and was hit by a pickup.

Both drivers were injured.
