Air Canada to lock out pilots on Monday

Lock out could come during busy spring break travel period

TORONTO – Air Canada said Thursday the airline will lock its pilots at 12:01 a.m. Monday, March 12 after the union failed to accept a final offer from management in their ongoing labor talks.

"We need to bring closure to the ongoing climate of labor uncertainty at Air Canada which is affecting our customers, destabilizing the Company and our operations, and damaging the Air Canada brand," said Duncan Dee, Air Canada chief operating officer.

"We have been in protracted talks over the past 18 months which have included various attempts at conciliation and mediation," he added.
