Aiyana Jones' murder trial resumes Monday

Trial continues for Detroit police officer charged in 2010 shooting death of 7-year-old

DETROIT – The trial continues Monday for a Detroit police officer charged in the 2010 shooting death of 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones.

Jones died from a shot to the head fired by Officer Joseph Weekley of the Special Response Team.

Weekley is charged with involuntary manslaughter. His gun was fired during a chaotic raid on a Detroit home in May 2010.

A stun grenade was used before police entered the home. Jones was asleep on a couch before the raid.

Video recorded by a crew from a TV show, "The First 48," was previously shown in court detailing the raid and the shooting.

The crew was working with Detroit police that night.
