Northbound I-75 back open after deadly tanker crash

Driver Roddy Winn died after tanker crashed, caught fire near Outer Drive

DETROIT – All lanes of northbound Interstate 75 opened Sunday night.

MDOT crews and contractors worked around around the clock since Thursday morning's tanker fire.

The tanker was carrying 8,000 gallons of gasoline.

The driver, 53-year-old Roddy Blaine Winn, was heading southbound on the interstate around 3 a.m. when he lost control near Outer Drive, hitting the median wall and crashing onto the northbound lanes. He died the next day.

The damaged concrete has been replaced and the median wall rebuilt.

The left shoulder of northbound along with the left lane of southbound I-75 at Outer Drive will remain closed for repairs through Monday afternoon.
