Missing 3-year-old Warren girl found safe in Florida

WARREN, Mich. – A missing 3-year-old girl has been found safe in Florida, Warren police said.

An Amber Alert was issued Friday evening for 3-year-old Delilah Flores and 20-year-old Gino McGill.

McGill is the boyfriend of Flores' mother. The mother last saw her daughter about 10 p.m. Thursday at the Motel 6 on Chicago Road in Warren, according to Warren police.

Police sources told Local 4 the couple got into an argument while driving along Van Dyke. Eventually the mother got out of the car at a Speedway store, but police said the boyfriend took off with the baby girl.

The mother called police, an Amber Alert was issued and Warren police got on the case.

Sources inside the investigation told Local 4 Gino had ditched his cellphone, but somehow got a new one.

"Officers began obtaining cellphone location information from Sprint revealing that the cellphone was currently located near Gainesville, Florida," Warren police said in a statement. "SID Officers coordinated with the Florida State Highway Patrol who issued a BOLO detailing the above information. Shortly thereafter, deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff's Office located the suspect and the missing child. The child was found to be in good health and the suspect is in custody."

Police say McGill is in custody and Delilah is in "good health." They tracked down McGill's cellphone to Alachua County, Florida.

"It was very effective. Everything worked out how it was designed to work," said Sgt. David Kriss.
