WASHTENAW COUNTY, Mich. – A 2-year-old boy who had been the center of an Amber Alert Saturday is safe.
Michigan State Police said Jarren Laron Jackson had been reported taken from a green Ford Taurus that had broken down on the side of a Whittiker Road, south of Judd Road, about 1:15 a.m. Saturday in Augusta Township, Washtenaw County.
Police confirmed at 12:45 p.m. that he had been found by a family member about 2 miles from the alleged abduction scene. He was taken to C.S. Motts Children Hospital in Ann Arbor to be checked out.
When the Amber Alert went out, police said Jackson had been in the back seat with his 4-year-old and 3-year-old brothers when a man pulled over asking his mother if she needed help.
When Jackson's mother told the man no, he allegedly took the 2-year-old out of car and fled in an older model red pickup truck with black lines on the back.
None of the other children or their mother were hurt.
Troopers are requesting anyone who may have seen, any vehicles stopped on Whittaker Road, south of I-94, in the early morning hours or during the afternoon on Saturday to please call the Michigan State Police at 517-241-8000.
