Ann Arbor cab driver assaults against students prompt alert

3 cab driver assaults against students reported in past month in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – For the third time in a month in Ann Arbor, a University of Michigan student has reported an assault by a cab driver.

A female student said she left the Brown Jug Bar at closing time Sunday, got into a Blue Cab Company minivan that took her home.  But when the cab got to her home, she said the driver touched her leg and tried to kiss her.

Police received a report of a cab driver assault in mid-January and last week, a female student reported being sexually assaulted in a parking lot.

Students like Katie Conlon said they received campus crime alerts.

"We get alerts in emails and you can texts too, so I've been informed that way and I've been reading the paper, so I've been paying attention," Conlon said.

A spokesman for Blue Cab Company declined to comment.

Police say the suspect is a dark-skinned man in his late twenties, with a light beard.

Anyone with information about the assaults is asked to call the Ann Arbor Police.
