Apartment burns in Pontiac; no injuries

No injuries reported after bedroom, attic catch fire at Pontiac apartment building

PONTIAC, Mich. – An apartment caught fire Monday in the 600 block of Newman Lane just north of University Drive in Pontiac.

According to the Waterford Fire Department, firefighters responded to the building for a bedroom fire but the flames had spread to the attic by the time they arrived.

There was heavy smoke coming from the building. Everyone was evacuated promptly. There were no reports of injuries.

Three apartment units were damaged. There is significant damage to the attic.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
