DETROIT - Born and raised in Metro Detroit, Ashlee Baracy was thrilled to join the news team that she grew up watching in 2010.
Starting as the traffic reporter on Local 4 News Today, her role has evolved to additionally include general assignment reporting and fill-in anchoring; she is also a certified meteorologist. Ashlee serves as the face of WDIV's "Vote 4 the Best" and "Friday Football Frenzy" contests.
Before joining Local 4, Ashlee was most recognized for being Miss Michigan 2008 where she was featured on the TLC Reality Series: "Countdown to the Crown" and was named a top-ten finalist in the 2009 Miss America Pageant. Ashlee has extensive experience in spokes modeling, varying from the City of Westland's "Shop and Dine Westland" commercials to General Motors' product launch videos for the Corvette Stingray and Cadillac ATS.
Ashlee proudly bleeds maize and blue as a graduate of the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and obtained a Master's of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Eastern Michigan University. She was honored to be named "Best On Air Personality" by her Alma Mater in 2013. Ashlee continued her education through Mississippi State University obtaining a certification in Broadcast Meteorology in 2014.
A self-proclaimed sports lover, you will find Ashlee spending most of her free time watching a wide variety of games ranging from Michigan football and basketball to the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Lions. She loves playing Fantasy Football and filling out March Madness brackets.
While pursuing her bachelor's degree, Ashlee spent her Fall Saturdays dancing on the sidelines in the Big House as Captain of the Michigan Dance Team. She grew up as a competitive dancer, studying under the most notable names around the country including taking classes at the highly acclaimed Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Ashlee's dance credits include the Guinness Book of World Records' Longest Kickline, Miley Cyrus' "Who Owns My Heart" music video, dancing with Mario Lopez from "Dancing with the Stars," and ESPN's College Dance Team Championships. Most recently, Ashlee was named the champion of Dancing with our Local Stars 2012 in Metro Detroit benefiting Focus: HOPE.
Ashlee's biggest passion is community service. Inspired by her parents who are both cancer survivors, she has played active roles with the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Children's Miracle Network. Her charitable work has been recognized by many organizations. She was the recipient of the Heroes of Breast Cancer Media Award presented by the Karmanos Cancer Institute, named Young Professional of the Year by the YWCA and received a Quality of Life award from the Miss America Organization.
